VoiceLog ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.
1. Information We Collect
Data stored on your device only:
- Audio recordings — stored locally on your device
- Transcriptions — text generated from your recordings
- App settings — your preferences (theme, playback speed, etc.)
Data processed through our servers:
- Audio files — temporarily uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage (Google), then forwarded to AssemblyAI for transcription, then deleted
- Device identifier — anonymous ID for rate limiting (20 transcriptions/day)

3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- AssemblyAI — Speech-to-text transcription. Audio is forwarded for processing. AssemblyAI Privacy Policy
- Firebase (Google) — Temporary audio storage during transcription, analytics, crash reporting, and secure API access. Audio files are deleted from Firebase Storage after processing is complete. Firebase Privacy Policy
4. Data Storage & Security
- All recordings and transcriptions are stored locally on your device
- Audio files are temporarily uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage and forwarded to AssemblyAI only when you request transcription
- Audio files are deleted from Firebase Storage after transcription is complete. We do not permanently store your audio on our servers
- API communications are secured using Firebase App Check
5. Data Retention
- Local data: Stored until you delete it from the app
- Uploaded audio: Deleted immediately after transcription
- Usage statistics: Retained for 90 days, then aggregated
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — View all your data within the app
- Delete — Remove any recording or transcription at any time
- Export — Export your transcriptions as text, PDF, or subtitles
- Opt-out — Disable analytics in device settings
7. Children's Privacy
VoiceLog is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
